To usher the 2017 Chinese New Year (Year of the Fire Rooster), Zuan Yuan Chinese Restaurant One World Hotel Petaling Jaya theme is the PETALS OF PROSPERITY. To mark this auspicious occasion, Chef Ben Kong who helms the kitchen of Zuan Yuan Chinese Restaurant serves to treat our taste buds with fine festive dishes, specially crafted for the spirit of the season.

Three set of menus that conjure the wishes and hopes for the New Year are offered and it suffices to say the trio top notch dishes check all the right boxes and won’t disappoint. Chef Kong has prepared his special highlight dishes from this menu for us to taste.
The lunch review started off with the premium Salmon Yee Sang 三星下凡喜洋洋 which came with thick slices of Salmon.
Next is the speciality boiled soups which we had is the Braised Deluxe Sea Treasures Soup with "Song Rong" Mushroom 金玉满堂堆漫屋 is a class above the competition and mere teasers for the good stuff to follow. A perfect replacement for the Shark fins which we find many restaurants are taking out of their menu.
Next, we had the Steamed Village Chicken with Chinese Herb 喜鹊晨鸣迎新春.
For the fish dish, we had the Steamed Dragon Garoupa with Superior Soy Sauce "Hong Kong" Style 鱼跃龙门显富贵 - we could taste the white firm texture of the fish meat which was perfectly married with the superior soy sauce.
Wok Fried Sea Prawn Coated with Crumbs and Golden Garlic 满载而归喜哈笑.
Braised Dried Oyster, Flower Mushroom and Sea Moss with Superior Oyster Sauce 升官发财好事连. Nice combination of the premium ingredient with the different texture that was braised to a balanced taste with the thick flower mushroom.
Steamed Rice with Fried Yam, Preserved Sliced Duck and Sausage in Claypot 金银满仓福临门. Normally when it comes to this dish, most of our stomach will be almost full but this delightful rice dish was cook with all the juices of the preserved wax meat and sausages imbued into every grain of rice. Needless to say, it was almost a total wipe-out to the last grain of rice.
For dessert, we had the Steamed Coconut "Nian Gao" 步步高升身力健.
and the last dish is the Dried Pear Soup with Red Date, Snow Fungus, Snow Lotus Seed and Peach Gum 延年益寿贺新岁. Served cold, it was a refreshing end to our lovely meal.
